Kommenttien merkitys blogille - About blogs and comments

Samoin kolmanneksi luetuin juttu Taivaan rummusta.

Itselleni ainakin tuo.

For me writing a blog is following the current flow. I don't get paid for what I write so I'm able to write freely without thinking how many visitors or comments the post will receive.

I have written this blog for a year and 9 months now. Some texts have been more popular than others and some have received more comments than others. So they don't always go hand in hand. For example my most read post ever (so far) is Knitted autumn socks which has gotten 0 comments! The next read posts in line are Norwegian sweater and Heavenly drum which both have gotten comments.

So there might be a lot of visitors and activity in the blog but that doesn't show outside if there is no comments. But what do the comments even matter? Well, especially someone like me, quite in the beginning of the blogging journey, the comments are like sun on a cloudy day. They really warm, and you feel like you have been heard and seen. Someone has noticed you. You are not just talking to yourself post after post, but someone has really taken the time and effort to leave a comment and say hello. And that makes the writer want to produce more posts. Right?

Also what makes the comments so golden, is that they can let the writer get completely new points of view to their own texts. And that is always interesting and exciting and can lead to new ideas and new texts!

So from now on, I will try to be better with leaving comments whenever I visit someone's blog. Leaving a positive comment is never a bad idea and can lighten up someone's otherwise crappy day.

Let's make this dark November a little bit lighter!

  1. Really interesting post and obviously I thought I'd leave a comment for you. I get that comments can be helpful but sometimes I also like it when people will tweet me with a comment as I know they've seen my tweets and my posts! Double engagement.

    1. You're absolutely right that twitter, fb etc. are also good ways to say hello and connect. All comments are equally important and warming. Thank you for leaving your comment here :)

  2. :]
It's hard getting comments, I've recently starting getting some comments on mine, only from commenting others and joining some blogger swaps.
